Multiple Longhorns players are dealing with lingering injury issues going into the final non-conference game before SEC conference play tips off next week. The statuses of freshman guard Tre Johnson and senior forward Jayson Kent is uncertain due to various lingering injuries.

During his most recent press conferences, Terry hasn't been very forthright with injury updates for Johnson and Kent. He's described both players as being "day-to-day" before SEC play begins on Jan. 4 against Texas A&M.

Johnson missed Texas's past two games due to a hip injury. It sounded like he could've played for the Longhorns in the win over New Orleans on Dec. 19 if it were a bigger game in SEC play. But he was held out due to precautionary reasons.

"Tre’s day to day right now and we have the best trainer in the country and he has the best people and resources to continue to work with him."

Texas has found other sources of offense, with multiple players stepping up to score in the double figures with the team's leading scorer Johnson out due to the hip issue. Pope has led the way, averaging over two dozen points per game (including the 42-point outburst vs. New Orleans) in Johnson's absence since Dec. 15 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Freshman big man Nic Codie also had a breakout game, with a game and season-high 20 points, in Texas's win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff a couple of weeks ago.

Kent has Texas's past eight games due to an upper-body injury. His status is less certain than Johnson's for a potential return to the lineup for the SEC conference opener in a little over a week.
