Appreciating Tre Johnson's scoring run to start his collegiate career

The insane scoring pace to start the collegiate career of freshman shooting guard Tre Johnson continued in this game. While Johnson didn't reach the 20+ point mark, which would've extended that streak of scoring at that marker for three straight games, he did register 19 thanks to the Longhorns' big first-half lead.

Johnson's 19 points were good for a team-high for the third straight game. He also nailed at least four three-point field goals (while shooting well over 40 percent from deep) for the third game in a row for the Longhorns.

This is easily the best scoring run we've seen from a true freshman for the Longhorns since Kevin Durant during the 2006-07 season.

Johnson leads the nation for all freshman scoring, now at a mark of 25.3 points per game after the Chicago State win tonight. He's shooting over 55 percent from the field and over 55 percent from beyond the arc.

The thought of what Texas's offense could potentially look like and become once senior shooting guard Tramon Mark debuts for the Longhorns from an ankle injury he's dealing with is pretty wild. Mark and Johnson both have the offensive skill sets and shooting efficiency from deep required to score at least 15 points per game each while keeping on an efficient pace on that end of the floor.
