4 key 2025 flip targets visiting for Texas vs. Georgia

Another key flip target on the defensive side of the ball for the Longhorns in the 2025 class that the coaching staff is still communicating with regularly on the trail this fall is five-star McKinney (TX) linebacker Riley Pettijohn. The No. 2 linebacker recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking is making his first unofficial gameday visit to Texas this fall since he committed to Ohio State in the summer.

It was initially reported a few weeks ago that Pettijohn was working on scheduling a gameday visit to Texas this season for the Georgia game on Oct. 19. Multiple reports and sources this past week have confirmed that Pettijohn is scheduled to unofficially visit Texas this weekend for this top-five matchup under the lights at DKR.

Despite him committing to Ohio State in early July, the Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies haven't thrown in the towel in this recruitment. Texas and Texas A&M have been working to steadily chip away at Pettijohn's commitment to the Buckeyes on the recruiting trail in the past few months.

This game against Georgia is Texas's best shot at impressing Pettijohn in this key in-state recruitment for the top Texas linebacker in this class.

This weekend's visit will be Pettijohn's first trip he's made to Austin since his official visit to Texas back in June. We should have a great idea about where the Longhorns chances stand to flip the Ohio State commitment in the few days following the conclusion of his unofficial trip for the Georgia game this weekend.
