The visitor list for No. 2 Texas football's highly-anticipated SEC matchup on Oct. 19 at DKR against the No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs is growing even larger entering the month of October on the recruiting trail. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian are already set to host well over a dozen blue-chip visiting recruits from the 2025 and 2026 classes for the Georgia game in a few weeks.

In-state 5-Star LB flip target Riley Pettijohn sets visit date for Texas football vs. Georgia in October

A big in-state five-star flip target who is committed to another blue-blood school in the 2025 class is among the latest notable additions to the visitor list for the Texas-Georgia game on Oct. 19.

Inside Texas reported that five-star McKinney (TX) linebacker and Ohio State Buckeyes commit Riley Pettijohn has scheduled an unofficial visit for the Texas-Georgia game.

Pettijohn committed to Ohio State over the Longhorns, USC Trojans, and Texas A&M Aggies in early July. He officially visited all four of his finalist schools in June before committing to the Buckeyes on July 6.

But the Longhorns haven't given up on this recruitment, as they've remained in consistent communication with Pettijohn in the past couple of months.

Texas is looking to add at least three linebacker commitments in the 2025 class, as it needs more numbers at this position group after Pete Kwiatkowski only took one LB this past cycle in the 2024 signing class.

The Longhorns already hold linebacker commitments from Dallas (TX) Skyline high-four-star Elijah "Bo" Barnes and Fort Worth (TX) North Crowley three-star Jonathan Cunningham in the 2025 class.

Texas is also in the mix for two other blue-chip linebacker targets from out-of-state in the 2025 class on the trail this fall. Since late summer on the recruiting trail, the Longhorns have really prioritized four-star San Diego (CA) J Serra Catholic linebacker Madden Faraimo. The Longhorns are battling USC and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish among Faraimo's top schools this fall.

Manassas (VA) IMG Academy four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng is scheduled to officially visit Texas for the Georgia game on Oct. 19. Texas's top competition for Owusu-Boateng on the trail this fall are the Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, and the Florida Gators.
