The elite five-star Missouri City (TX) Fort Bend Hightower defensive back Kade Phillips was one of the highest-rated signees in the 2025 Texas football recruiting class. The 6-foot-1 and 185-pound corner from the Houston area, Phillips is one of the most athletic and talented cover DBs in this recruiting class for Texas for 2025.

Phillips is one of five 2025 Texas signees participating in the Navy All-American Bowl in San Antonio, TX, this week. He's the only defensive back commitment for the Longhorns in the 2025 class participating in the All-American Bowl, alongside three Texas wide receiver commits for this cycle, including five-star Jaime Ffrench.
On the first day of the team drills and scrimmage portion of the All-American Bowl practice on Tuesday (Jan. 7), Phillips was reportedly (per On3) the only defensive back who recorded an interception.

Phillips got the best of his fellow Texas commit in the 2025 class, Ffrench, in one-on-one drills at practice on Wednesday (Jan. 8).
From what's been reported and highlighted in the past 48 hours coming out of the first two days of All-American Bowl practice, Phillips has won most of his one-on-one matchups and made multiple plays in the 7-on-7 scrimmages.
Phillips reportedly registered an impressive pass breakup in the co-practice on Wednesday.

For his efforts on the first day of practice at the All-American Bowl, 247Sports named Phillips one of the top performers on the defensive side of the ball. He was a standout in one-on-one drills against the wideouts and in the scrimmage portion of practice on Day 1 and Day 2 for the All-American Bowl practices this week.
One 247Sports reporter on site for the All-American Bowl said that Phillips' "athleticism shined in Tuesday's practice setting".
Phillips has been the most impressive Texas commit in the first two days of All-American Bowl practice this week. The All-American Bowl kicks off on Jan. 11 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
