Texas has been bringing in a lot of players for visits lately, and it doesn't look like that's changing anytime soon. Today, they welcome Oklahoma State pass rusher Wendell Gregory to Austin, and the coaching staff is hoping that they make a great impression as they're looking to add at least one top-notch defensive end in the 2026 transfer portal.
Gregory is currently ranked as a top-15 player in the portal by most outlets, and he has the ability to come in and contribute either as a starter or sub-package player immediately.
He was a 4-star recruit coming out of Walton HS in Marietta, GA, in 2024, and developed into a force for the Cowboys in 2025. He's an excellent penetrator against the run due to his above-average hand fighting skills and quickness at 6'3", 255 lbs.

Gregory was able to consistently knife his way into opposing backfields this year and combined for 27 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 1 pass deflection, and 1 forced fumble.
Will Muschamp is looking for a player that he can rely on to rush the quarterback from either side of the center, and one who can be effective against the run. This sentiment perfectly describes the type of player that the Longhorns would get if they can lock down Gregory.
Despite being "only" 255 pounds, he can line up anywhere on the line of scrimmage and be productive. He could live on the edge as a 5 or 7-technique, or bump inside at times to a 3 or 4-technique; basically anywhere that Muschamp would need or want him to play.
There's a good chance that Wendell Gregory immediately became a target for Texas the moment that he entered the portal, so getting his commitment would be huge the the Longhorns.
