Sean Miller is a recruiting machine. The Horns' newest head coach brought in yet another top-tier transfer on Sunday, April 6, when the AAC Freshman of the Year committed to play for the Texas Longhorns.

Matas Vokietaitis, a seven-foot star, played one season with the Florida Atlantic Owls before entering the portal, and now, he is headed to Austin to spend some time with Miller and the Longhorns.

What does Matas Vokietaitis add to the Texas roster?

Vokietaitis adds some much-needed size to a Longhorn roster that lost star center Kadin Shedrick after his eligibility ran its course. At 7-foot-0 and 245 pounds, the Lithuanian athlete is an absolute monster of a presence to deal with in the paint on both ends of the court.

During his freshman season, Vokietaitis averaged 10.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks while only playing 17.6 minutes per game, eventually becoming a consistent starter for the Owls.

Vokietaitis was named the AAC Freshman of the Year after leading Florida Atlantic to an 18-16 overall record and a fifth-place finish in the conference standings.

While Miller has done a fantastic job at retaining players on the Texas roster, many of the returning talents come in the shape of a guard: Tramon Mark, Jordan Pope, and Chendall Weaver. Adding Vokietaitis to the roster will fill the gap left behind by the departure of Shedrick, who started in all 35 of Texas's games last season.

Earlier this offseason, Miller also added forward Cam Heide, from Purdue, and his former Xavier guard Dailyn Swain from the transfer portal.
