'Anonymous' P4 coach just took a laughably delusional jab at Texas football

It's crazy to think that someone could form this odd of an opinion about what the Longhorns have done this offseason.

In a recent article published by The Athletic, members of different coaching staffs gave their takes on a few different programs like Miami, Cal, Texas Tech, and Texas.

Though much of what was said for the majority of the article was true, what an anonymous Power Four coach said about Texas and its 2026 transfer portal haul was absolutely insane.

Football coach? More like disgruntled fan

“Coleman is their best receiver with a great catch radius, but I don’t think he’s a burner.”

This statement immediately caused whoever said this to lose any sort of credibility. Cam Coleman is the epitome of a burner at the college level, hence how he's one of the fastest straight-line receivers in the game and can win vertically against pretty much anyone. Even if he doesn't run a 4.3, he's able to consistently stack defensive backs and create separation with double moves before pushing downfield. This quote was strike No.1.

Strike No. 2 came swiftly after it when the coach basically said that the only reason Rasheem Biles was good in 2025 is because of the "system" he was in at Pittsburgh. They went on to say that:

"They’re (Texas) gonna line him up in 3-4 and make plays because he has Colin Simmons on the other side."

First of all, the Longhorns' base defense is going to continue being a 4-3 with the defensive line rotating in and out of different alignments up front. This "coach" should probably do some research before saying something like this. Second of all, Biles wouldn't be playing on the other side of Simmons in a 3-4 anyways, as he is and always will be an off-ball linebacker.

Strike No.3, and perhaps the most ignorant statement is what they said about new Texas ball-carrier Raleek Brown and the rest of the running back room.

"The running backs are okay. Hollywood (Smothers) is pretty good. But I think (freshman) Derrick Cooper ends up the starter by Week 3. He’s got something the other two guys don’t have. Raleek Brown is too small for the SEC.”

I think everybody in the college football world can agree that Hollywood Smothers is more than just good. Alabama's coaching staff believed that he was excellent, as they went after him pretty hard this offseason, and they were devastated when Smothers made the last-minute decision to flip to Texas a few months ago.

It's probably a good thing that the coach has so much faith in Derrek Cooper, but to say that Raleek Brown is "too small" for the SEC is such a troll job. Was he too small to set rushing records for Arizona State last season, too? Yes, the SEC is definitely considered a step up, but he's already been very productive at the P4 level. It would be one thing if he were transferring in from an AAC or Sun Belt school, but the Big 12 is still grown man football.

It's obviously unclear as to where this person works, but these are some of the most troll-like statements that could be made about what the Longhorns have done this offseason. If they actually are a coach, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that they're an Oklahoma or Texas A&M employee.
