It's no secret that Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian sticks to his guns once he chooses who his starting quarterback is. Now, it's the Arch Manning era on campus as the Longhorns look toward their second season in the SEC.

However, as the offseason progresses and Manning flies closer to his first season as the starting quarterback of the Texas Longhorns, the young QB has formed a relationship with a head coach on campus other than Sark.

Recently, Texas men's basketball coach Sean Miller, who was only hired in March, talked about his relationship with Manning while on USA TODAY's Field of 68 show. In fact, Manning even had a small request for Miller pretty soon after he was hired.

"Welcome to Texas, I'm a big basketball fan," Manning said, following up with the question, "Hey, do you mind if, once in a while, we sneak in and play pickup?"

Manning, of course, plays football at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, which is right across the street from Texas's brand-new, state-of-the-art basketball arena, the Moody Center. Unsurprisingly, Miller was more than happy to share his facilities with the Longhorns' starting QB.

Manning has had just two starts for the Horns, against the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks and the Mississippi State Bulldogs last season. Miller has yet to coach a game as the new leader of Texas men's basketball.

However, Miller has already proven his worth on campus, bringing in the No. 1 transfer portal class in the nation this spring, with five four-star athletes committing to Texas.

Texas is set to kick off its football season on Saturday, Aug. 30, with a rematch game against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The men's basketball schedule has yet to be announced, but a headliner non-conference matchup against the Duke Blue Devils is in the works for the upcoming season.
