Texas head coach Sean Miller is making the Longhorns' name known, and he's only been in charge of the program for a little over a month. With the No. 1 transfer portal class in the nation and recruits eying the Horns unlike ever before, Texas is looking more ready than ever for the upcoming season.
Now, with the first tip-off still months away, Texas is working to face the Duke Blue Devils in a non-conference matchup towards the start of the season.
Reportedly, the Longhorns and Blue Devils would play at the Spectrum Center, home of the NBA's Charlotte Hornets, on Nov. 4.

Has Texas basketball ever played Duke before?
The Longhorns and Blue Devils have faced each other three times in the past, twice in non-conference play and once in the NCAA Tournament. Duke walked away from all three matchups with the win.
- Duke 97, Texas 66 - Dec. 10, 2005
- Duke 74, Texas 69 - March 21, 2009
- Duke 85, Texas 79 - Nov. 24, 2017
With a win over Duke in the fall, Texas could improve its winning percentage agains the Blue Devils to just 25 percent, with it currently residing at an embarrassing zero percent. However, playing even a single game within range of the Blue Devils' final score is impressive.
Duke has won five national titles and finished runner-up in the NCAA Tournament on six other occasions. The blue-blooded Blue Devils have appeared in the Final Four of 18 tournaments, the second most in collegiate history.
Meanwhile, Texas has appeared in just three Final Fours (1943, 1947, & 2003) and has never been able to secure the National Championship or a berth in the final game.
