Sean Miller is making moves in Austin. From bringing in a few top-tier transfers to making the Moody Center his new HQ, the Texas men's basketball head coach is already catching the attention and earning the respect of Longhorn Nation.
On Friday, April 11, it was announced that Miller planned to hire one of his former assistants, Kenya Hunter, onto his Texas staff. Hunter, who was with Miller during his first tenure with the Xavier Musketeers, was on Mike Woodson's staff at Indiana during the 2024-25 season.
Jeff Goodman, with the Field of 68, first broke the news, saying, "New Texas head coach Sean Miller is hiring Kenya Hunter as his assistant to complete his staff."
Who is Kenya Hunter?
Hunter has been in the world of Division I basketball coaching for over two decades. He most recently spent five seasons with the Indiana Hoosiers after spending two seasons with the UConn Huskies and their head coach, Dan Hurley.
Miller's newest hire also spent time with the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Georgetown Hoyas after he was with Miller at Xavier from 2004 until 2007. During his time at Xavier, Hunter helped Miller lead the Musketeers to back-to-back 20-win seasons as well as an NCAA Tournament berth in 2007.
Who has transferred to Texas since Sean Miller took over?
Alongside building his staff, Miller has brought in three recruits since taking over the Texas program. One of his former Xavier stars, Dylan Swain, followed Miller to Austin, and former Purdue forward Camden Heide also committed to the Longhorns.
Most recently, former Florida Atlantic center Matas Vokietaitis announced he had transferred to Texas to play under Miller. All three transfers were given a four-star ranking by 247Sports and On3.
Miller did lose one former Longhorn to the portal when Devon Pryor announced he would transfer to play for Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks.

In the last month and a half, Texas fans have been on pins and needles, awaiting the news of any major departures from the basketball program. Beyond Pryor transferring to Oregon and star freshman Tre Johnson declaring for the 2025 NBA Draft, Miller has done a fantastic job with player retention.
Jordan Pope, Chendall Weaver, and Tramon Mark have all announced that they will return for the upcoming season as the Horns enter their second season in the SEC and their first under Miller.
