Following the trend set by star Texas men's basketball players Jordan Pope and Tramon Mark, yet another Longhorn is sticking around under new head coach Sean Miller.
Chendall Weaver, who missed nearly 20 games during this past season, announced that he would return to the Longhorns' lineup, adding yet another dynamic player to Miller's roster.
Weaver transferred to Texas ahead of the 2023-24 season after starting his collegiate career with the UT-Arlington Mavericks. Over the last two years, he became a source of energy and inspiration for the Horns, especially on the offensive end of the court.

Despite missing more than a dozen games during the 2024-25 season, Weaver had the sixth-most points per game out of the entire Texas squad as well as the fourth-most rebounds per appearance. He only trailed fellow veteran Julian Larry in assists per game on the roster.
Chendall Weaver 2024-25 season stats
- 6.4 points per game
- 4.9 rebounds per game
- 1.4 assists per game
- 0.8 steals per game
During the postseason, when Texas made an unexpected run in the SEC Tournament and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament First Four, Weaver was an instrumental part of keeping the Longhorns in their games, even when they lost to the Tennessee Volunteers in the conference tournament and the Xavier Musketeers in the Big Dance.
From the moment Miller arrived on campus, Weaver could be seen at his new coach's side and the player was even seen on the recruiting trail alongside his head coach.
Weaver is one of three Texas players who have confirmed their return for the upcoming season. Miller has also brought in exciting transfer talent like his former Xavier guard Dylan Swain.
