Yet another Longhorn is coming back for the 2025-26 basketball season, with transfer guard Jordan Pope announcing that he would return for the upcoming season.
This time around, the to-be senior guard will play for the Horns' new head coach Sean Miller, who officially became the newest Texas men's basketball coach just over a week ago. Just a few hours earlier, fellow veteran guard Tramon Mark announced that he would return for another season as well.
Pope, who transferred to Texas from Oregon State ahead of last season, was a defensive menace for the Horns last season, leading the team with 1.7 defensive rebounds and one steal per game. Not to mention, his 11 points per game were the third most for the Texas squad.

A few weeks earlier, Pope and guard Chendall Weaver hinted at the possibility of their return on Instagram but Weaver has yet to confirm if he will stay with the Longhorns or not.
During the Horns' unlikely run in the SEC Tournament, Pope contributed 41 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists over the three-game postseason stretch. In the First Four game that Texas played against Xavier, Miller's former program, Pope was only able to earn three points, one rebound, and one assist.
Jordan Pope 2024-25 season stats
- 11.0 points per game
- 2.0 rebounds per game
- 1.7 assists per game
- 1.0 steals per game
Pope's veteran status during this past season made him a leader on the court for the Texas Longhorns, especially while playing alongside freshman phenom Tre Johnson, who also has yet to announce if he will return or head to the 2025 NBA Draft.
Miller also brought in one of his former players, Dailyn Swain, who committed to Texas on Wednesday, April 2. Sadly, two-year Longhorn Devon Pryor announced he had entered the transfer portal following the season and recently committed to the Oregon Ducks.
