On Thursday, March 27, Texas point guard Jordan Pope shared a few pictures on social media and captioned the post "Year 3," with a burnt orange heart. Then, a fellow Longhorn left a comment that should raise the level of hope amongst Texas fans for next season.

Chendall Weaver, who was a dynamic part of the Horns' postseason run despite missing a lot of the season with an injury, commented, "run it back" on Pope's post.

Both players have a year of eligibility remaining, but with the shuffling of head coaches from former HC Rodney Terry to new HC Sean Miller and the norm of collegiate players leaving their program before their eligibility expires, it is far from guaranteed that they'll come back.

Pope, who transferred to Texas from Oregon State ahead of the 2024-25 season, has just one year of eligibility left, and the same goes for Chendall Weaver, who transferred to play for the Horns from UT-Arlington ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Jordan Pope 2024-25 season stats

  • 11.0 points per game
  • 2.0 rebounds per game
  • 1.7 assists per game

Pope instantly became a starter for the Longhorns after playing the same role for the Oregon State Beavers for two years. Throughout the past season, he became a playmaker for the Texas offense and was an integral piece of the Horns' SEC Tournament run.

Chendall Weaver 2024-25 season stats

  • 6.4 points per game
  • 4.9 rebounds per game
  • 1.4 assists per game

After suffering a hip injury, Weaver missed 15 games but returned in full force during the postseason for the Horns. His defensive prowess paid off as the Horns defeated Vanderbilt and Texas A&M in the conference tournament.

If Weaver and Pope decide to transfer or declare for the Draft, they will leave the Texas program after impressive careers for the Horns. The 2025 NBA Draft is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, at 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN and ABC.
