Arch Manning sends strong message to Texas' locker room ahead of 2026

Manning just made a pretty big sacrifice for the good of the team, signaling his intention to go all in next season.

It was recently revealed that Arch Manning is giving up half of his allotted housing compensation to benefit the team's financial ability to bring in talent this offseason. This is an incredibly selfless thing for Manning to do, and it really resonates with how he feels about this team.

He's willing to help the Longhorns succeed and build on it's successes in 2025 rather than getting "down" and just coasting things out heading into what'll most likely be his final year at Texas in 2026.

Realistically, he probably doesn't even need the housing compensation as he's already making a lot of money in general through various NIL deals. It still doesn't take away from the gesture itself, and it's something that you don't see other big name players doing for their teams around the country.

It's no secret that the Longhorns have quite a few needs when it comes to the 2026 transfer portal, especially at RB, OL, and LB. This money will undoubtedly help the team bring in players at those positions to make it possible for the team to make a deep playoff run next season.

It's obvious that the coaching staff made a huge mistake by not attacking these position groups last year, and I doubt they'd make the same blunder this year. The 2026 transfer portal is chock-full of talent at almost every position already, and the Longhorns might be able to "win over" some players with the extra money they're retaining from Manning's housing payments.

Steve Sarkisian has already made some big changes, and now Arch has shown that he's willing to help out as well.
