Arch Manning trending as the Texas Longhorns prepare to face the Texas A&M Aggies

For the first time in 13 years, the Texas Longhorns are set to face the Texas A&M Aggies. As the Horns prepare to take on their in-state rivals, the conversation of which Texas quarterback deserves the starting role has emerged once again.
Arch Manning's name was trending on X (Twitter) just days before the Lone Star Showdown despite head coach Steve Sarkisian repeatedly saying that starting quarterback Quinn Ewers will be his go-to guy for as long as possible.
The reason? Ewers injured his ankle against the Kentucky Wildcats and reportedly underwent an MRI following Texas' resounding victory over the SEC opponent.
With Ewers' availability up in the air, many people are calling for Manning to become the starting guy against Texas A&M yet others are saying that a Texas team without Ewers has no place in the College Football Playoffs.
Ewers has struggled with injuries throughout the entirety of his collegiate career with Texas. From an injured shoulder last season to an oblique strain earlier this year, the ankle injury is just the latest in a long line of speed bumps for the Longhorns' starting QB.
Not to mention, Manning has repeatedly found success for the Longhorns, including wins of Louisiana-Monroe and Texas' first-ever SEC matchup, a win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Despite being the backup, Manning has amassed 61 completions for 939 yards, 9 touchdowns, and just 2 interceptions. He also has an impressive 81 rushing yards on 17 carries for an additional 3 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Ewers has an abysmal -64 yards on the ground and just 1 rushing touchdown so far this year. He has earned 2,089 passing yards on 189 completions for 23 touchdowns but also has 6 interceptions to his name so far this year.
While the decision of who starts at quarterback against the Aggies may not be up to Sarkisian, if Ewers is hurt, the choice may have ramifications through the rest of the Longhorns' season.
The Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies are scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT from Kyle Field in College Station, TX. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
