The Longhorns' offense has desperately needed a performance like this after a disastrous start to the 2025 season on that side of the ball. The defense continues to perform at an elite level, holding the Bearkats to 113 total yards of offense during Saturday night's shutout.

Arch Manning started off hot on the first drive of the night and helped lead the Longhorns to their first opening drive touchdown of the 2025 season. He was feeling himself all game long and appeared to have found his swagger again after scoring a rushing touchdown on drive No.2 as well.

Manning continued to look much improved throughout the matchup in almost every aspect, most importantly through the air. He continued to show poise, confidence, and his elite arm talent from start to finish last night.

He finished the game completing 90% of his passing attempts for 309 yards, 3 touchdowns, and a 14.9 yards per attempt average in week 4. It was his highest yardage total of 2025, and it also marked his first game of the season without throwing an interception.

With Quintrevion Wisner and C.J. Baxter being out with injuries, Jerrick Gibson, Christian Clark, and James Simon looked great in the run game for Steve Sarkisian and Co. throughout the entire night. Gibson scored Texas' first opening drive touchdown of the season on a 13-yard scamper up the middle.

It was also the team's first rushing touchdown in 2025 by someone other than Arch Manning.

Gibson handled most of the work on the first two drives of the night, but everyone contributed in a big way:

Jerrick Gibson - 11 carries, 53 rushing yards, 1 TD, 4.8 yards per carry

Christian Clark - 13 carries, 62 rushing yards, 1 TD, 4.8 yards per carry

James Simon - 9 carries, 50 rushing yards, 5.6 yards per carry

Needless to say, the run game looked much improved as well, and the offensive line was opening up holes all night long for Longhorn ball-carriers.

One of the biggest "sight for sore eyes" storylines of the game was the number of explosive plays that the offense created on the ground and through the air, regardless of it being against Sam Houston.

QB Matthew Campbell - 50-yard rush

WR Ryan Wingo - 32-yard rush, 53-yard reception

RB James Simon - 16-yard rush

WR DeAndre Moore Jr. - 38-yard reception

WR Ryan Niblett - 39-yard reception

TE Jordan Washington - 32-yard reception

WR Daylan McCutcheon - 21-yard reception

Coming into this game, the team's No.1 goal was to make sure that the offense found its footing heading into SEC play. It looks like they can put a pretty big check mark next to that one.
