Bevo not allowed to travel to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for SEC Championship game

The mascot mayhem continues between the Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs as the two teams prepare for their rematch in the SEC Championship game. This time around, Texas' live mascot, Bevo, is not allowed to visit Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Horns' game against the Bulldogs, despite making an appearance at a different NFL stadium just a few seasons ago.
It all started five years ago. The Longhorns and the Bulldogs had punched their tickets to the Sugar Bowl and were bringing both of their mascots along.
However, when Bevo met Georgia's bulldog, Uga, it didn't go quite to plan. As the chunky bulldog approached, Bevo's handlers momentarily let the bull slip and he charged at Uga, in an unforgettable pregame moment... that slightly foreshadowed Texas' 28-21 victory.
When the two teams met earlier this season, Georgia announced that Uga, the next generation of the Bulldog mascot, would not make the trip to Austin. Many Texas fans said that it was because the pup was scared of their formidable Longhorn.
So, it came with little to no surprise when it was announced that Bevo wouldn't be allowed to visit Mercedes-Benz Stadium –– which just so happens to be in Atlanta, GA.
While the conference title game is supposedly played at a neutral site, it is hard to argue that Atlanta (which is just an hour and a half from Athens, where UGA is located) is neutral –– it's more than a 14-hour drive from Austin, TX.
The No. 2 Longhorns and the No. 5 Bulldogs are scheduled to kick off from Mercedes-Benz at 3 p.m. CT on Dec. 7. It has yet to be annouced if Uga will be in attendance or not.
