Five years ago, Bevo, the Texas Longhorns' live mascot, scared the Georgia live mascot, Uga, out of his mind when the Longhorn went horns-first toward the bulldog at the 2019 Sugar Bowl. Now, Georgia is coming to town but Uga won't make the trip to Austin.
Supposedly, the travel logistics didn't align for Uga to attend the SEC matchup in Austin, according to his handler, Charles Seiler.
"Seiler said the decision not to travel to Saturday's game was based on logistics, rather than a hesitance to reunite with Bevo," wrote David Eckert, a reporter for the Austin American-Statesman.

However, Texas fans will never forget when Bevo charged Uga at the Sugar Bowl, just moments before the game kicked off, the Horns won, and Sam Ehlinger boasted that the Horns were back.

The incident between the two live mascots actually occurred between the current Bevo and Uga X, Georgia's previous live mascot. Now on Uga XI, the bulldog is set to miss his second game of the season as the team travels to Texas.
"He's only two-and-a-half, and we haven't flown him yet, and he hasn't been on a team bus yet," Seiler said about Uga XI.
Meanwhile, Bevo will make his usually intense, smoke-filled entrance at Darrell K Royal Texas-Memorial Stadium on Saturday as the No. 1 Longhorns host the No. 5 Bulldogs, live bulldog in attendance or not.
