Bijan Robinson gets the NFL recognition he deserves after record-setting TNF game

Bijan Robinson continues to amaze the football world, now three years removed from his incredible tenure with the Texas Longhorns.

The latest example of his greatness came last Thursday, when he (quite literally) carried the Atlanta Falcons to their double-digit win over the Green Bay Packers. When Week 3 of the NFL season was in the rearview mirror and weekly awards had been handed out, Robinson walked away with another achievement: the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award.

The 213 total scrimmage yards and two rushing touchdowns against Green Bay made Robinson undeniably deserving of the weekly honor, much less when you look at the history he made with his performance.

He became the first player in NFL history with 150+ scrimmage yards and at least one touchdown in five straight road games. Robinson also joined the likes of Derrick Henry, Shaun Alexander, and Jerry Rice as one of the four NFL players with the most prime games with 200 or more scrimmage yards.

His performance against the Packers was just his latest incredible game for the former Texas running back, bringing his total scrimmage yards for the season up to 467 and his touchdown total to three.

There are very few players ahead of him in the statbooks, with only Kansas City's Kenneth Walker III leading the league in rushing yards (360 to Robinson's 349) and only 59 wideouts and tight ends with more receiving yards than him (that's only 1.84 players per team).

The NFC Offensive Player of the Week award was simply the cherry on top of Robinson's incredible performance and one of the most well-deserved recognitions of the season so far.

In other words, Robinson is undeniably in a league of his own right now, and with just three games checked off the schedule, it looks like the Longhorn Legend could secure the first Offensive Player of the Year award of his career.

Of course, both the Horns and the Falcons could have told you they expected this to happen in Robinson's career, with Texas seeing his greatness over his three-year collegiate career, and Atlanta awarding his already-impressive NFL career with a record-breaking contract.

There are still 14 games remaining on the Falcons' regular-season schedule, but more games from Robinson, like the one we saw in Week 3, and we could easily see him and Atlanta heading into the postseason, with hopes of a run to the Super Bowl at the front of their minds.
