Projected Starters: Tre Johnson (Freshman), Arthur Kaluma (Senior)

Rotation Pieces: Devon Pryor (Sophomore)

If you are a fan of Texas basketball, Tre Johnson has been on your radar for a few years. Coach Terry and his staff scored a major recruiting win by getting Johnson to Austin for what will likely be just one season of college basketball.

Johnson was one of the best scorers in the class of 2024, something that has already been shown during his short time on the Forty Acres. He led the team in scoring in both closed-door scrimmages, including a 31-point outburst against Colorado on Sunday.

As with any freshman, expect Johnson to go through some streaky spells throughout the season. However, if this team is to hit its peak in March, the freshman will be at the center of the success.

Next to Johnson will likely be former Creighton Blue Jay and Kansas State Wildcat Arthur Kaluma.

Kaluma is a guy this staff targeted in the portal last season before he ended up in Manhattan. He brings a wealth of experience and versatility to Austin with elite traits on both ends of the floor.

Last season at Kansas State, Kaluma averaged 14.4 points, seven rebounds, and two assists per game. He knocked down 34.5 percent of his threes on 4.5 attempts per game. Those attempts will likely decrease this season, but having a player at the four capable of stretching the floor will open up the offense.

Behind Johnson and Kaluma is sophomore Devon Pryor. Pryor appeared in just seven games last season but looks to have an increased role after a strong offseason.

Pryor's role remains to be seen as Coach Terry looks to piece together minutes on a very deep roster. Look for him to serve as an energy reserve who impacts the game with hustle plays and on the defensive end.
