Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns finally got an update on one of their most important incoming transfers of 2026, potential starting left guard Laurence Seymore. When he committed, everyone was ecstatic until they realized that he had an eligibility stipulation in his deal with Texas.

He had to get another year of eligibility approved through the NCAA, and to be honest, things weren't looking too good with how silent it's been over the past month.

On the contrary, Longhorn Nation just got some excellent news as it was announced that Seymore's waiver has finally been approved for the 2026 college football season.

Texas fans everywhere can now take a huge sigh of relief as everyone's been waiting on this news for a while now.

Seymore should be able to immediately step in as the starter at left guard whenever he gets to Austin, which still might not be until July. Regardless, this season's offensive line looks to be light-years ahead of where it was last season.

Melvin Siani and Brandon Baker on the right side should be an overall upgrade, though D.J. Campbell was very good at right guard for the past two years. Baker has been looking great throughout the spring working at guard, as it's most likely his more natural position at the collegiate level. Though he began to play better over the course of the year, like some of the other starting linemen, it just wasn't good enough.

Seymore's pass protection prowess should be incredibly evident early on in the season, and Arch Manning should have quite a bit more time to throw the ball in 2026.
