Steve Sarkisian and Co. have been absolutely killing it in the transfer portal this season, but they still need to add another offensive lineman or two before the 2026 season gets here.
The Longhorns have already added former Oregon State OG Dylan Sikorski, former Texas A&M OT Jonte Newman, and former Wake Forest OT Melvin Siani since January 2nd. Though there's a chance that two of those players could start and be effective for Texas in 2026 (Sikorski and Siani), they still need to add more depth.
The offensive line only has 14 total players in the room right now, and that's most likely why the team has reached out to Georgia's Jamal Meriweather. The 6'7", 310-pound offensive guard/tackle played 56 total snaps in 2025 as a redshirt sophomore, with 51 of those snaps coming at offensive guard and 5 at offensive tackle.
Former Georgia IOL Jamal Meriweather has arrived in Austin Friday morning for a visit to #Texas, @ontexasfootball has learned.

On brand with what Texas has been doing all offseason with transfer portal offensive linemen, they're targeting players who can play multiple positions up front. The Longhorns usually gravitate towards linemen who're position-flexible when looking at potential additions.
Texas OL coach Kyle Flood loves to cross-train players at different positions in order to both increase cohesion and overall depth along the entirety of the offensive line. For instance, Nick Brooks, Jaydon Chatman, Andre Cojoe, Jackson Christian, and Devin Coleman all practiced at two or more positions in 2025.
Meriweather would undoubtedly be a great addition to the team heading into the spring, as there's legitimate potential for him to compete for a starting offensive guard spot. On the other hand, his length could also cause him to stick on the outside in Austin, which might allow someone like Jaydon Chatman to bump inside full time.
