In the middle of the week following a loss to Georgia, Texas has dealt with its first loss of the season, a drop in the rankings, and rumors of its starting quarterback sitting out the rest of the season. Despite the valleys that come along with being one of the top teams in the country, the Horns can undeniably still look on the bright side.

Even with the loss to the Bulldogs, the Longhorns are still projected to win the SEC Championship, according to ESPN.

Not a single team in the SEC has maintained its perfect record through the first eight weeks of the year. Texas, Georgia, Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee, and Missouri all have one loss each and the rest of the conference has suffered a worse fate. In fact, Texas A&M and LSU are the only undefeated SEC teams in conference play so far.

While Georgia's only loss was to Alabama, the only loss that LSU has suffered this season was at the hands of non-conference opponent USC.

Because of the fact that LSU hasn't lost to an SEC opponent, the Tigers actually have better odds to win the conference championship than the Bulldogs do. Similarly, a much lower-ranked Texas A&M is nearly dead even with Georgia when it comes to their title odds.

So, yes, the Longhorns are no longer perfect, nor are they standing atop the SEC. However, the regular season only matters so much these days. The big game, even bigger than the Texas-Georgia matchup, is the SEC Championship, which Texas still has a great chance at winning.
