Last year, the Texas Longhorns saw tight end Gunnar Helm selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. This year, yet another elite TE has left the Horns for the Draft, and he has already met with a team in desperate need of depth at the position.
The Philadelphia Eagles, just two years removed from defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, are greatly lacking at the tight end position. This week, as the NFL Scouting Combine has progressed, they met with none other than Texas tight end Jack Endries.
With Philadelphia's star Dallas Goedert hitting free-agent status, the Eagles only have one tight end cemented on the roster: EJ Jenkins, who earned zero stats in 2025.
Jack Endries could perfectly replace or play alongside Dallas Goedert
Yes, Goedert is already an undeniable star in the NFL, earning an astonishing 4,676 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns since joining the Eagles in 2018. And, yes, Endries would just be a rookie next season, coming off a 346-yard, three-touchdown season for Texas.
However, Goedert is already heading toward his ninth season in the league and could easily be signed by another team. Endries could perfectly slide into the TE1 or TE2 role for the Eagles, whether they retain Goedert or not.
Not to mention, Goedert is 6-foot-5 and 256 pounds, and Endries is 6-foot-4 and has already weighed in at 240 pounds. So, not only would he be a good fit for what Philadelphia needs, but he's nearly a physical copy of who Philly might lose to free agency.

Versatile receiving threat at 6’4’’, 240 lbs. Dallas Goedert is going to be a free agent, so TE with or without Goedert is a need. Only one TE on the roster is under contract. (EJ… pic.twitter.com/QIy9zDHy40
Endries transferred to Texas after starting his collegiate career with the Cal Golden Bears. Despite being new to the program (just like he would be new to the Eagles if they drafted him), he quickly became TE1 for the Longhorns and quarterback Arch Manning.
"Reliable, quick, and... do-it-all," Endries said to describe his style of play. "Reliable: I'm not coming off the field; I played in 39 games, starting 39 games. Quick: I think I make quick decisions, I think I'm fast as a player, happy to have to come out here and prove it. Do-it-all: I think I can run block, pass block, catch the ball, and perimeter block."
The tight ends are scheduled to take the field on Friday, Feb. 27, at the NFL Scouting Combine, in what will be yet another opportunity for Endries to show he deserves even more attention from teams in the league.
