Baxter was injured on the first play of the game against the Miners on Saturday, and when he was limping off the field, everybody feared the worst.
He had just been cleared to take off his knee brace a month ago after missing the entire 2024 season with a torn LCL and PCL that he suffered in practice earlier in the year. Luckily, his ability to walk off the field under his own power was a good sight in week 3, but he immediately went into the medical tent once he made it to the sideline.
He was also seen slowly walking around after the game, which likely meant that it wasn't a serious knee injury. Fans might have assumed that it was "just" some sort of a knee sprain or contusion after seeing these clips.

Thankfully, Sarkisian revealed that it's actually a hamstring injury but he isn't sure of the severity. It was definitely enough to keep him out of the remainder of the game though.
Yes, hamstring injuries can be severe, but it's obviously not torn, and these types of injuries might only cause him to be out 2-3 weeks rather than most of the year. Longhorns fans can officially breathe a sigh of relief following Baxter's week 3 injury scare, as things could've definitely been much worse.
