It was an underwhelming performance on Saturday night for Texas football as they suffered their first loss of the season, falling to No. 5 Georgia 30-15.

The Longhorn offense sputtered in the first half, picking up just 38 total yards, leading to a late-half quarterback change from Quinn Ewers to Arch Manning. Ewers and Manning were a combined 9-for-18 passing with three turnovers in the first 30 minutes.

Texas found some footing in the second half, cutting the Georgia lead to 23-15 with 2:12 remaining in the third quarter. However, the Bulldogs were able to punch back with an 11-play, 89-yard touchdown drive to ultimately salt the game.

The Georgia defense swarmed Texas all night, turning over the Horns four times and notching seven sacks. However, Texas had its chances.

The Longhorns will have to take a long look in the mirror after committing eight penalties and converting just 3-of-19 third and fourth downs.

Here is everything Coach Steve Sarkisian said after the loss.

On the team:

" [It was a} tale of two halves. Very difficult first half offensively. We just didn't play our best football"

"Like I told the team, I was really proud of our ability to come to the locker room at halftime and regroup and compete in the second half and fight and showed."

"We didn't play our best football in the first half, but we were still competitive. Hopefully, we get another crack at them. That's a good football team. Credit to Kirby and their staff and their players being ready to go in the first half."

"We need to be better and we need to be better against quality opponents and that was a quality opponent."

On the offense:

"I thought early on we did some decent stuff, then we just couldn't get enough positive drives to where we're converting a third down and extending it. You finish the game, I think we were 2-of-15 on 3rd down, that's not winning football."

Jaydon Blue did not receive a rush attempt because "the game got out of wack."

On Quinn Ewers:

"Quinn is our starting quarterback."

"My feeling in the game was I felt Quinn was a little uneasy. I felt like giving him a chance to kind of step back and regroup. I didn't know if we'd get a series or two with Arch depending on how much time was remaining in the half on the clock. So we told Quinn we're going to go with Arch here and give you a chance to get into the locker room. Let's regroup and then come back out in the second half, and so that's what we did. I felt like it was effective. Quinn came out and played a much better second half and played well in the third quarter."

"Quinn's our starting quarterback. I appreciate the fact we're fortunate enough to have a backup like Arch that could come into the game and provide a spark in some sense. At the end of the day, Quinn's our starter. I think, like I said, we've got to do a better job around him. I think he would tell you he can play better, but we've got to coach better. Everybody's got to be better for our offense to perform better."

Going forward:

"Hopefully, we get another crack at [Georgia]."
