On Thursday, May 8, the college football world got an exciting announcement as fans learned when the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies would play their second rivalry game as SEC opponents.
With the game heading back to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the Longhorns and the Aggies are scheduled to face each other at 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 28.
Yes, you read that correctly. For the first time in nearly two decades, the Lone Star Showdown is returning to the Friday after Thanksgiving.
When was the last time Texas and Texas A&M played on a Friday?
2007 was the last time that Texas and Texas A&M played each against one another on a Friday, nearly 18 years ago. However, for decades, the Texas-based rivalry was a staple for the Friday night lights.
In 2007, the Aggies walked away with a 38-30 victory over the Longhorns. However, that matchup was just four years before Texas defeated Texas A&M with a walk-off field goal to send the Aggies to the SEC in style.

Which team won the first SEC Lone Star Showdown?
Texas and Texas A&M reunited on a football field on Nov. 30, 2024, and the matchup was a complete barn burner... somewhat fittingly for the two southern programs.
At the end of it all, the Horns headed home with a 17-7 victory over their rivals, led by one passing touchdown from former QB1 Quinn Ewers and one rushing touchdown by newly anointed QB1 Arch Manning.
Texas will host Texas A&M in Austin for the two teams' second-ever Lone Star Showdown as SEC opponents on Friday, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m. CT., their final regular-season matchup of the year.
