Forget the Bronx Bombers, Texas baseball could be nicknamed the Longhorn Long Ballers

In the first two games of the postseason, the Texas Longhorns have had an unstoppable defense with white-hot batting to breeze past their opponents.

Over the last two days, the Texas baseball team has racked up a whopping 35 runs, including 11 homers, between the Longhorns' first two postseason games of the year.

From star freshman Anthony Pack Jr. seemingly seeing the biggest baseballs of all time to Aiden Robbins being one of the most consistent batters on the roster, the Horns have been dominant at the plate, and it could easily earn them a new nickname.

While the New York Yankees might be referred to as the Bronx Bombers for their home-run-hitting ways, Texas could be nicknamed something along the lines of the Longhorn Long Ballers for all of their lengthy hits and seemingly unstoppable offense.

Texas Longhorns demolish Tarleton State and Holy Cross

In the first game of the postseason, Texas earned the most runs that the program has seen in over two decades, defeating the Crusaders 19-1 behind Pack's three home runs, Robbins' two homers, and Jayden Duplantier's grand slam.

The Horns smacked out 21 total hits and gave up just eight as the bullpen produced a nearly flawless performance, holding Holy Cross to zero runs until the top of the ninth inning.

Then, in the second postseason game, the Longhorns were nearly as dominant on offense, exacting revenge on the Tarleton State Texans, who defeated Texas in the regular season.

This time around, five different players each hit a home run, to push the Horns' winning score up 16-2 and improve their postseason record to 2-0. Pack and Robbins both hit homers in the second inning, alongside catcher Carson Tinney.

Junior Ethan Mendoza hit a solo home run in the third, and sophomore Adrian Rodriguez brought in the last run of the game with his solo home run in the eighth inning.

Texas is nearly in the clear for the Regional Round, with just one more win necessary to punch their ticket to the Super Regional, which the Longhorns would also host. The Horns will face the winner of the Tarleton State versus UC Santa Barbara.

If they win that game, they will advance to the next round. If Texas loses, it would force another game, which the Horns would have to win in order to keep their season alive.
