Former Texas Longhorn Jaxson Hayes under investigation by the NBA again

TMZ released a video of Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes and his ex-girlfriend in an altercation from 2021. Due to the nearly 6-minute-long video, the NBA has reopened an investigation into Hayes for domestic violence allegations.
Hayes, who played for the Texas Longhorns from 2018 until 2019, was on the New Orleans Pelicans at the time of the incident and was not disciplined by the league following the initial investigation.
However, the recently-released video from TMZ shows Ring camera footage of Hayes outside of a doorway in which his ex-girlfriend Sofia Jamora can be heard pleading with Hayes to let her go and leave her alone.
"I'm not going to let you hit me anymore," Jamora says in the video. "What the f--- do I look like, a punching bag?"
Hayes momentarily walked away from Jamora after that statement but turned around to spit at her before walking away once again.
In 2022, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene in Woodland Hills after a domestic disturbance call, and Hayes was arrested. He was later sentenced to three years of probation, 450 hours of community service, and a year of weekly classes on domestic violence. This is the incident that prompted the NBA's initial investigation which led to a lack of punishment for Hayes from the league.
"As a result of the media report and video posted this morning, we are reopening our investigation," said Mike Base, an NBA Spokesman, regarding the footage released by TMZ.
On Saturday night, a Lakers spokesperson told ESPN that the organization is fully cooperating with the league's investigation. A spokesperson for Jamora has also shared that Hayes' ex-girlfriend is more than open to cooperating with a further investigation.
After TMZ released the video, a spokesperson for Hayes told ESPN, "There has already been an extensive investigation that we cooperated with the league on, and as that investigation reopens, we will continue to do so."
