The Texas Longhorns are succeeding at the college football level, currently undefeated and ranked atop the rest of the country. However, the Horns are also succeeding at the next level as well, with former Texas football players flooding the NFL and having burnt orange reunions every single weekend.

Sending dozens and dozens of players to the league, and them continuing to lean on their Texas roots, is giving head coach Steve Sarkisian all of the recruiting ammunition he needs to bring top prospects to the 40 Acres.

Beyond high school recruits wanting to play for the best teams in the country, like the No. 1 Longhorns, for example, the ultimate goal is to make it to the NFL. Texas has proven that it can develop players to do just that, whether they are five-star prospects or walk-on players.

Over the first month of the NFL season, we have seen reunions between Gunner Helm and Ethan Burke, and a reunion between Jordan Whittington, Jahdae Barron, Poona Ford, and Malcolm Roach, and many, many more.

And those six players are just where the lengthy list of Longhorn Legends in the NFL begins, and they aren't even the biggest standouts for the season so far.

Texas players succeeding in the NFL continue to cement Sarkisian's development abilities

This is something we've written about seemingly every week since the 2026 NFL season kicked off, but former Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden and running back Bijan Robinson continue to shine brightly at the next level.

Golden had the opening touchdown snag for the Green Bay Packers' win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, blowing past the defense to get wide open in the end zone.

Robinson has yet to take the field, with the Atlanta Falcons playing the New Orleans Saints during primetime Monday Night Football this evening.

However, even as the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the LA Rams, former Texas defensive back Andrew Mukuba made one of the plays of the week, seemingly coming out of nowhere to pick off LA's Matthew Stafford.

Simply put, between the Longhorns maintaining their relationships after heading to the NFL and former Texas stars continuing to shine at the next level, Sarkisian has the exact kinds of things he needs to show recruits that his program is the place to be if you want career-long success.

Of course, being the No. 1 team in the country, toppling the former No. 1 Buckeyes and the then-No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers doesn't hurt either.

Sarkisian has returned the Texas Longhorns to a premier program, and his players flooding the NFL simply cements that fact.
