On Sunday, April 27, Texas Longhorns' freshman offensive lineman Nicolai "Nick" Brooks was pulled over and arrested in downtown Austin.

Brooks, who is just 18 years old, was charged with a DWI (driving while intoxicated), which is a Class B misdemeanor. In the affidavit, the arresting officer noted that Brooks was pulled over while speeding in the 900 block of West 6th Street just after 2 a.m. CT on Sunday.

The officer also noted that when he searched Brooks' person and vehicle, he discovered a gold vape pen with a marijuana leaf inscribed on it, and “think, amber liquid” was found in his right pocket.

Next, the officer reportedly gave Brooks a breathalyzer test, which came back negative, with a 0.00 result, but he determined Brooks was “intoxicated due to the introduction of cannabis/CNS depressants” and was “unable to operate a vehicle safely.”

Brooks' bond was set at $3,000, and records show that he was released from custody once said bond was posted.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said, "We’re aware of the situation with Nick Brooks, have talked with him and are gathering information. We will continue to monitor the legal process and address this situation within the team at the appropriate time," about Brooks' arrest.

Coming out of high school, just a few months ago, Brooks was rated as a 4-star recruit by On3. He attended Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. Currently, he is listed on the Longhorns' roster as 6 feet, 7 inches tall and 353 pounds.

Brooks is not the only Texas football player to have been arrested this year, with former Texas and Washington wide receiver Johntay Cook II arrested in February.
