It was pretty much written in the stars that blue-chip running back Landen Williams-Callis would break records in his senior year of high school football, and on Thursday night, he did just that.
Williams-Callis, who committed to the Texas Longhorns earlier this year, entered his senior season just a handful of touchdowns away from the Houston-area record for the most career touchdowns, a record that was held by his cousin, Jacquizz Rodgers.
On Thursday, as Williams-Callis and Randle High School demolished Victoria East, and it took just one quarter for the running back to break his cousin's record.
Williams-Callis earned a jaw-dropping 156 yards and three touchdowns on three carries in the first quarter alone, surpassing Rodgers' all-purpose TD record of 136 in the blink of an eye. He headed into the game with 134 touchdowns to his name, setting the area record at 137 by the end of the first 15 minutes.
Beyond cementing his innate ability to find the end zone, Williams-Callis also became the fifth-ever player in Houston high school football history to reach the 8,000-yard mark on the ground, now sitting at third on the all-time list with 8,158 career rushing yards.
Rodgers is currently second on the city's all-time list, with 8,303 rushing yards in his high school career. Sugar Land's Kenneth Hall has held the Houston-area rushing record since 1953, with 11,232 yards to his name.

From Ricky Williams to Earl Campbell to Bijan Robinson, Texas has boasted some of the greatest college running backs in the history of the sport.
Based solely on his high school tape and record-breaking ability, Williams-Callis is set to join that upper echelon of talent in the backfield once he joins the Longhorns.
Currently, the Horns boast star running backs like Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown, with rookie talents like Derrek Cooper acting as the understudy. When Williams-Callis is added to the depth chart in 2027, expect him to quickly take over the leading role in the running back room.
Williams-Callis is one of two blue-chip running backs in Texas's recruiting class of 2027, joined by four-star RB Noah Roberts, who is a showstopper in his own right.
The class ranks sixth in the country and second in the SEC, and features some of head coach Steve Sarkisian's biggest recruiting wins since he took over on the 40 Acres. Williams-Callis is the third-highest-rated player in the class, only trailing five-star wideout Easton Royal and five-star interior offensive lineman Ismael Camara.
