For the first time since joining the SEC, the Texas Longhorns will travel to Gainesville to face the Florida Gators.
Last year, the Horns walked away with an extraordinary 32-point victory over the Gators, righting a ship that had fallen to the Georgia Bulldogs two weeks earlier and had struggled against the Vanderbilt Commodores the week prior.
This year, when Texas goes to Florida, the Longhorns will be looking to do more than just add a win to their resume; they will hopefully disrupt the Gators' recruitment efforts of a five-star quarterback from the class of 2027.
Elijah Haven, a Louisiana native and the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the class, is currently crystal-balled to end up with the Gators.
But wouldn't it just be so sweet if the Horns could stampede into Gainesville, demolish Florida (once again), and make Haven realize that the Gators aren't actually all that great. In fact, Haven will be on the sidelines at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium when Texas gets to town.
UPDATE: Five-star QB Elijah Haven (2027) tells me he is planning a visit to Florida for its matchup against Texas. He also informed me that he plans to most likely make a decision “after the season is over.”

Does Texas need a QB from the class of 2027?
The Longhorns aren't necessarily pursuing Haven for their own roster. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian to actually going to send the young quarterback an offer, if they're ever going to in the first place.
The Horns just brought in the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation, including four-star quarterback K.J. Lacey, and are actively working on doing the same with their class of 2026 commits, including five-star quarterback Dia Bell.
So, to put it simply, the Longhorns aren't in urgent need of a quarterback, especially when they could focus their recruiting efforts and NIL funds on other targets, such as five-star offensive tackle Kennedy Brown, who is in the class of 2027 and projected to choose between Texas and Texas A&M.
With months to go until the two teams face each other, the Horns are currently favored by 6.5 points. Kick off between the No. 1 Longhorns and No. 15 Gators is set for Saturday, Oct. 4, and the time has yet to be determined.
