How the rest of the live mascots in the SEC rank after Texas's Bevo

It's impossible to deny that Bevo stands above the rest.

The pride and joy of the Texas Longhorns (other than the centuries-long winning tradition) is none other than their live mascot: Bevo.

A genuine Longhorn that comes with his own posse (the Silver Spurs) alongside him, Bevo is one of the most beloved figures on the 40 Acres, and is a constant at Texas football games.

Between rocking the actual colors of UT: burnt orange and white, and displaying long horns that can weigh up to 20 pounds apiece, there is no ignoring the presence that Bevo has, and that is just one of the many reasons he is the best live mascot in all of college football.

There are only eight other teams in the conference that boast live mascots, but they all pale in comparison to Bevo. However, there are quite a few notable animals roaming the SEC. Here's how they all stack up:

The whole stampeding onto the field with a schooner (a covered wagon) pulled by two horses is something that doesn't even go right every time, with the wagon tipping over on numerous occasions.

While it's nice to have two live mascots, I guess, a "Sooner" is supposed to be one of the people who rushed down to grab the land that is now known as Oklahoma, not the white horse that pulled their wagon to do so.

In other words, the Sooners have missed the mark once again and wound up in last place on this ranking of the SEC's live mascots.

Sir Big Spur, while boasting an incredible name, is genuinely just a rooster. The South Carolina Gamecocks nailed it on mascot accuracy, but as a Texas resident, a chicken is something that could be found in thousands of homes across the state. In other words, zero out of ten on creativity.

Tusk is a genuine boar (yes, I know, it rhymes with "bore") that acts as the Arkansas Razorbacks' live mascot. While it's cool that they have "tamed" a wild hog, I'm not sure a big, hairy pig is the type of animal I want representing my program.

The Auburn Tigers are, well, the Tigers. Yet, they have an eagle fly around the stadium before every game, and they shout "War Eagle" at each other the way we shout "Hook'Em Horns."

It's undeniably a cool tradition, but it has nothing to do with Auburn's actual mascot, knocking them down quite a few pegs, especially compared to the LSU Tigers.

Now, it might be a surprise that the Texas A&M Aggies' mascot was allowed into the top five of this ranking, but it is impossible to deny that Reveille is an extraordinarily cute dog.

Not only is she the queen of campus in College Station, but she is also the highest-ranking member of the Corps of Cadets, and if she barks while attending a class on campus, the lecture is immediately adjourned for the day.

Uga and Bevo have beef, and it's not the kind that people like to cruelly joke they're going to turn the Texas mascot into.

All of that animosity aside, Uga is a pretty cute pup, but he represents the Georgia Bulldogs and produces an ungodly amount of slobber, preventing him from standing atop the podium.

The Tennessee Volunteers' live mascot is a precious Coonhound, lovingly known as "Smokey," who frolics around Rocky Top on game days and has undoubtedly captured the hearts of college football fans, even if they don't root for the Vols.

Compared to the slobber produced by Uga and the Aggie-ness of Reveille, Smokey is absolutely the cutest dog in the confernce, earning him the third-place slot in this ranking.

Mike is an extremely close second to Bevo. A real-life Bengal tiger that has a sprawling complex on LSU's campus, Mike the Tiger is the only live mascot that could breathe the same air as the Longhorns' main man.

While Mike brings the intensity factor, he misses out on quite a few points since he's not allowed at most in-person events, other than when the Louisiana state governor goes rogue.

Nobody can compete with a one-ton bull. Just look at when Georgia's Uga tried to get too close at the 2019 Sugar Bowl (yes, the one that Texas ended up upsetting the Bulldogs in).

Raised on a ranch just down the road from Texas's campus and personally escorted to any and every Longhorn event possible, Bevo is clearly the top dog (even though he's a bull) in the conference.

Simply put, Bevo is undeniably the best live mascot in the world, much less the SEC conference, and that will stand until the end of time.
