Texas basketball and head coach Rodney Terry host the defending back-to-back National Champion and No. 25 ranked UConn Huskies in the biggest non-conference home game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon.

Texas (7-1, 0-0 SEC) hasn't yet played a ranked opponent this regular season. UConn (6-3, 0-0 Big East) hasn't played a true road game until today against the Longhorns at the Moody Center this afternoon.

Terry and the Longhorns are riding a seven-game winning streak coming into this huge matchup at home against UConn. Texas reeled in one of its most impressive victories of the regular season a few days ago on Dec. 4 in the SEC/ACC Challenge on the road in Raleigh against the NC State Wolfpack, 63-59.

Here's a look at the TV/streaming information, game time, betting odds, and game prediction for Texas vs. No. 25 UConn at the Moody Center in Austin, TX, on Dec. 8.

Texas vs. UConn prediction

This game between Texas and UConn pits some of the top forwards and freshmen in college basketball. Texas guard Tre Johnson leads all major conference freshman in scoring this season, at 20.8 points per game, as he gets set to face UConn freshman forward Liam McNeeley.

Texas will be without senior forward Jayson Kent against UConn today due to a wrist injury, per CBS Sports Jon Rothstein.

UConn got a positive injury update this weekend, with head coach Dan Hurley announcing that star forward Alex Karaban is expected to make his return from a head injury. The Huskies are expected to be without freshman guard Ahmad Nowell.

Texas having to face Karaban obviously gives the Huskies a major boost for this game. Karaban was a major part of UConn's back-to-back championship-winning squads, and he is the only returning starter from last year's Huskies title team.

He leads UConn in scoring this season at a clip of nearly 16 points per game.

Texas needs to shoot the three-ball well and make the most of their opportunities from the free-throw line if they want to win this game against UConn. Johnson and the Longhorns are one of the better three-point shooting teams in college basketball this season, shooting 37 percent from deep (ranking 70th in the NCAA).

The Longhorns are 7-0 this season when shooting over 30 percent from beyond the arc. And UConn is 0-3 when opponents shoot better than 40 percent from deep.

Final score prediction: Texas-82, UConn-80
