Junior guard Chendall Weaver is one of the more tenured players on the Texas men's basketball starting lineup. However, the Longhorn missed nearly 20 games during the regular season with an aggravated hip injury.
Now, as Texas prepares for its first-ever SEC Tournament, will Weaver be available for the Longhorns' postseason campaign?
Chendall Weaver injury update
Weaver suffered the hip injury at the beginning of January, when Texas was battling against the Auburn Tigers. He then missed 15 games of the season, all against conference opponents, before returning to play in the team's last regular-season game of the year against the Oklahoma Sooners.
After participating in practice the week before, Weaver came off the bench against the Sooners and logged just five minutes for the Horns. He collected two rebounds but was unable to get any numbers in the scoring column after going 0-for-3 from the field.
"He's not going to be back where he's out there for 40 minutes, (but) he’s going to be a guy that comes in and gradually works his way back in a little bit," said Texas head coach Rodney Terry before the Oklahoma game.
Texas availability report: SEC Men's Basketball Tournament
In the conference-mandated injury report, the Longhorns listed all of their players for the first postseason tournament of the year. While Weaver might not be back to a starting role quite yet, his experience for Texas will be crucial as the Horns hope to extend their season past the conference tournament.
