It wasn't long ago that freshman center Jamie Vinson announced that he had entered his name into the transfer portal after just one season with the Texas Longhorns.

The departure stung, but it wasn't the end of the world, especially with new head coach Sean Miller recruiting the AAC Freshman of the Year to bring a dominant paint presence to town. However, with the new team he is committed to, Vinson's absence will be felt a little more.

On Tuesday, April 29, On3 reported that Vinson had committed to none other than the Texas A&M Aggies, the Horns' in-state rival.

The former three-star prospect spent one year with Texas and appeared in just nine games for the Longhorns. Vinson averaged 2.2 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.3 blocks per game. He had a career-high six points against the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils.

Who has transferred out of Texas since Sean Miller took over?

Vinson is one of three former Longhorns who have left the program this offseason. Earlier this spring, Malik Presley and Devon Pryor also entered the portal. Pryor committed to the Oregon Ducks, and Presley has yet to announce his next destination.

Who has transferred to Texas since Sean Miller took over?

Miller has recruited the No. 1 transfer portal class in the nation, leapfrogging both the Kentucky Wildcats and the Michigan Wolverines. So far, five players have committed to the Longhorns since Miller took control of the program.

  • Dailyn Swain, small forward, Xavier
  • Camden Heide, small forward, Purdue
  • Matas Vokietaitis, center, Florida Atlantic
  • Lassina Traore, power forward, Xavier
  • Simeon Wilcher, shooting guard, St. John's

All five transfers were given four-star ratings by On3, and they each have a rating of 92.0 or higher according to the recruiting and media site.
