Latest 2027 NFL Mock Draft has Longhorns flooding the top-15 of Round 1

We could see quite a few Texas players hearing their name called in the spring.

Since he first picked up a football, quarterback Arch Manning has been propped up as the next great thing for the sport.

Throughout his life and athletic career, he has solidified that fact, becoming the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2023 and eventually taking the reins of Texas's offense as the Horns' QB1.

However, Manning is far from the only highly touted Longhorn this year, and with the 2027 NFL Draft just over six months away, mock draft boards continue to roll out. And they feature a ton of talent from Texas's current roster.

Fox Sports' Rob Rang released his latest 2027 NFL Mock Draft, and three Longhorns were included in the first 15 picks of the first round:

  • Colin Simmons, second overall pick, Tennessee Titans
  • Arch Manning, fifth overall pick, Miami Dolphins
  • Cam Coleman, 13th overall pick, Pittsburgh Steelers

Edge rusher Colin Simmons was the highest-projected Longhorn in the mock draft, going second overall to the Tennessee Titans, only trailing Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith on the draft board.

Manning was slated as the fifth overall pick, going to the Miami Dolphins, the very team that drafted former Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers in 2025. Wide receiver Cam Coleman was the third and final Longhorn in the first round, going 13th to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Steve Sarkisian's recruiting, development have Texas back in NFL Draft 1st round

Having three first-round picks is a huge accomplishment for any program, but it is almost what should be expected from a team like the Texas Longhorns.

However, just last year, the Horns had zero players go in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, with Anthony HIll Jr. being the highest draft pick as No. 60 overall. It has been since 2025 that the Horns have had a first-round pick, when three Longhorns were taken in Round 1: Kelvin Banks Jr. (9), Jahdae Barron (20), and Matthew Golden (23).

While it will have only been two years since Texas last had multiple first-round picks, head coach Steve Sarkisian relies on his players' success both in the draft and in the league as a whole as a huge recruiting incentive.

So, the likelihood of multiple Longhorns going in the first 15 picks, much less the first round as a whole (which has 32 picks), is a huge step back in the right direction for Sarkisian's program.

No other collegiate team had more players in the first 15 picks, and only the Oregon Ducks and Notre Dame Fighting Irish had more overall picks in the first round of Rang's mock draft.
