The first Longhorn has entered the transfer portal after the first few weeks of Texas's spring practices. The spring portal opened on Tuesday, April 15, and will close 10 days later on Friday, April 25.

Reece Beauchamp, a wide receiver from right down the road in Austin, entered the portal after spending three seasons with the Horns, in which he saw zero in-game playing time. However, the former Vandegrift Viper secured a five-yard touchdown in last year's spring game.

"I’m very blessed to have spent the past 3 years at The University of Texas, I’m forever thankful for this opportunity," Beauchamp wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "I have entered my name into the transfer portal as a grad transfer with two years of eligibility remaining and will get my degree this summer. Forever a Longhorn."

Why is Reece Beauchamp leaving Texas?

Beauchamp entered the portal following head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Horns securing a commitment from transfer wideout Emmett Mosley V, a true sophomore from the Stanford Cardinal. While he may have grown up just a few miles from Texas's home at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the wide receiver is most likely looking for a team where he can actually play snaps.

Despite never playing in a game while with the Longhorns, Mosley only has two years of eligibility remaining due to players only being able to utilize one redshirt season during their collegiate careers.

This year, the Longhorns will not host their annual Orange and White spring game and will instead host a Fan Day later this month. Sarkisian said that the decision came down to player health and retention after Texas played 30 games over the last two seasons.
