Just a few months ago, Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian announced that the Longhorns would not hold their annual spring game. Instead, the university announced that it would hold a day-long fan festival, dubbed "Fan Day."

Now, Fan Day is less than two weeks away, and the Horns have announced the schedule, which includes a lot of interaction with the stars of the show: the players themselves.

Texas football Fan Day Schedule

How can fans attend Texas football Fan Day?

  • Date: Saturday, April 26
  • Location: Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium
  • Cost: N/A

Attendance is free for any fans who want to be a part of the action in two weeks as the Longhorns return to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Why is Texas not having its Spring Game?

Sarkisian and the rest of his staff decided to cancel the annual Orange & White Spring Game after the Longhorns made yet another run in the College Football Playoffs. With 30 games over just two seasons, Texas has played a lot of football, leading to concerns about player health and retention if the team played its Spring Game.

Texas isn't the only Division I football program to cancel its Spring Game this year. Nebraska, Ole Miss, and others also made the decision not to host the annual event. Meanwhile, schools like Oregon and Ohio State have come out to say that their spring scrimmages are still on the calendar.
