Yes, you read the headline correctly, Texas men's basketball head coach Sean Miller is once again in the mix for a highly coveted player. This time around, he's still in high school and is one of the biggest targets in the class of 2026.
Miller and the Longhorns are in the mix for four-star point guard Tay Kinney, the No. 17 player and No. 2 point guard in his recruiting class, according to On3.
Tay Kinney high school stats
- 17.5 points per game
- 4.0 rebounds per game
- 2.6 assists per game
- 1.1 steals per game
Kinney began playing varsity basketball as a sophomore and already hit the ground running as a powerful offensive contributor. He dominated off the defensive glass with 3.4 defensive rebounds per game, as well as contributing at least one steal per game last season.

To put it lightly, Miller has been on a recruiting tear, bringing in some of the top transfer portal players in the nation as he turns the Longhorn program into his own.
Who has Sean Miller recruited to Texas?
- Lassina Traore - Xavier - Power forward
- Matas Vokietaitis - Florida Atlantic - Center
- Camden Heide - Purdue - Small forward
- Dailyn Swain - Xavier - Small forward
At this moment, Miller has brought in the No. 3 transfer portal class in the nation with some of the most highly coveted players in the nation committing to the Horns, including two of his former players at Xavier.
Dailyn Swain was a consistent starter for Miller at Xavier, and while Lassina Traore didn't play due to injury, he is a player with an extremely high ceiling.
Matas Vokietaitis was the AAC Freshman of the Year for the Florida Atlantic Owls, and at 7 feet tall, he creates a problem in the paint for opponents. Camden Heide turned into a starter for the Purdue Boilermakers last season and contributed 4.7 points while averaging under 20 minutes per game.
