Marcel Reed throwing venom at Texas has 'eat his words' written all over it

While Steve Sarkisian and Texas get ready for their season-opener, it looks like the team over in College Station already has Nov. 27 in mind. Veteran quarterback Marcel Reed made that pretty apparent. Although the Aggies are prepping to host Missouri State this weekend, Reed didn't hold back with his thoughts on the Longhorns in a recent interview.

And just a heads up, Sark is going to want to show this to his entire locker room. Yup, in an interview with USA Today, Reed made it more than clear that he hasn't forgotten about Texas taking him down in back-to-back seasons. Oh, and his hatred for Texas? He left no doubt about how he feels about the program, too. Goodness:

"We don’t like Texas," Reed said with conviction. "I don’t like Texas. It sucks that we’ve lost to them twice. But they’re coming here this year, so they’re gonna have to pay. I’ve got something for them, for sure."

When it comes to college rivalries, we don't mind when an opposing quarterback takes some shots like this. Is it going to upset some Texas fans? Sure, but if anything, Reed has provided Arch Manning, Cam Coleman and the rest of the locker room with some extra bulletin-board material to get ready for this dance with A&M this fall.

This year's battle will take place at Kyle Field, and you know Aggies fans are going to do their best to rattle the Texas offense. However, let's keep in mind that Texas is one of the top teams in the country for a reason: the Longhorns are stacked on both sides of the ball, which is why plenty of scribes have them among the favorites to win the national title this year.

Entering the new season, Texas is ranked No. 5 in the country per the preseason AP Top 25, while Reed and the Aggies are checking in at No. 8. With the regular-season finale still being a little under four months away, their respective rankings alone add to some serious intrigue for what's sure to be a blockbuster affair.

But as Reed was kind enough to point out, Texas has taken care of business the past two years, including a 27-17 win for UT last season. In that victory, Manning tossed for 179 yards and a touchdown, while adding another score on the ground. Reed had a game to forget, finishing with no TDs and two interceptions.

Clearly he's using that rough outing as motivation for what's to come this year, but calling out Texas publicly like this is a bit risky. The Longhorns will, no doubt, be ready to make him eat his words in late November too, and should Texas come out on top, you better believe Longhorns fans will be quick to remind Reed of his eye-opening comments that are making the rounds right now. If anything, he's added extra pressure on himself too to back up his trash talk.
