Every Texas fan knows that wide receiver Matthew Golden is a special kind of player. On Thursday afternoon, just ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, the nation learned just how special of a person Golden is as well.

With Longhorns flocking to Green Bay for the Draft, Golden sat down with On3's Ari Wasserman and Andy Staples to talk about his collegiate career and his rapidly approaching future in the NFL. When asked what the projected first-round pick would do with the money he makes, he shared an emotional response.

"Definitely get my grandma a house," Golden said. "We lost our property a couple of years ago, you know, that's somewhere I grew up when I was younger, it'd be a blessing to get that back for my family."

He went on to talk about how this has been a long-time goal of his and that if it's meant to be, it will absolutely be the first thing he spends his draft money on. Not to mention, the house is actively for sale. Golden said he would make it happen.

"I'm gonna kick the door down," Golden said. "I go back and look at it... I drive down that road, it's actually the back street of the high school that I went to."

Golden is a Houston native and attended Klein Cain High School, where he played three seasons of varsity football while also competing in track and field.

The 2025 NFL Draft was scheduled to kick off just a few hours after Golden's chat with Wasserman and Staples. The first pick was scheduled to come in at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 24. The Draft will last through Saturday, April 26.
