Quinn Ewers has developed a lot of doubters over the years, including me at times. However, as the former Texas QB flies toward the 2025 NFL Draft, he is doing everything in his power to silence those doubters.

Most recently, Ewers sat down with NFL legend Jon Gruden as a part of his show, Gruden's QB Class, which has featured some of the top quarterback prospects in the Draft class.

Yes, Gruden is known to be a fan of the Texas Longhorns and certainly has a soft spot for burnt orange, but still, his confidence in Ewers and Ewers' answers to some of his more intense questions should catch the attention of NFL scouts across the nation.

"Hey, there's Quinn Ewers, he's a first-round draft choice," Gruden said, later writing, "Talk about arm talent, that ball went wherever he wanted on a dime every time! Great kid, he’s got a bright future ahead!"

Why Ewers’ talk with Jon Gruden should change how scouts view him

During the show, Ewers broke down film with Gruden, explaining certain things that went right and that went wrong during his tenure with the Horns. On one play, Ewers even highlighted when tight end Gunnar Helm ran the wrong route, but the Texas quarterback was able to find his target in the end zone for a seemingly easy touchdown.

By saying, "We don't run drawings at the University of Texas," Ewers meant that things change in the moment when you play football. People aren't perfect, which means athletes aren't perfect, and Ewers knows how to adapt to in-game situations.

Ewers' football IQ is a huge upside to his player profile, especially with the speed at which NFL plays unfold. Not to mention, he is fully healthy once again, hopefully returning a lot of his arm strength that was seemingly lacking during the 2024-25 season.

"I think Quinn [Ewers] is an iceman," Gruden said. "This guy can really throw the rock, man. Born to be wild. This guy is a road warrior."

Gruden even gave Ewers a few pointers ahead of his NFL career, including a homework assignment to get to know as much as possible about Todd Bowles, who is the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and notoriously one of the most difficult HCs for quarterbacks to play against.

At one point, Ewers broke down how we would respond to certain defensive coverages and how he would make sure the offensive plays happened according to plan, and how to make the right adjustments when necessary.

To put it simply, the proof was in the pudding during Gruden's talk with Ewers. His ability to learn and memorize plays, defend his team's decisions, and stock for the NFL Draft all seemed to rise during the 50-minute podcast.

The 2025 NFL Draft is set to start on Thursday, April 24, and run through Saturday, April 26. There are currently 11 quarterbacks in the Draft class.
