Chavez told OTF that she will decide between the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Oklahoma Sooners, South Carolina Gamecocks, UCLA Bruins, and Texas.
The news of Chavez's late-March commitment date comes the day after she led Lubbock (TX) Monterrey to a 60-57 win over Frisco (TX) Memorial in the Texas state semifinals game for Division 5A Class II on Feb. 25. The Monterrey Plainsmen will face the Liberty Hill (TX) Panthers in the state championship game on March 1 at 11 a.m. CT.

Texas head coach Vic Schaefer has built a great relationship with Chavez and her family on the recruiting trail over the past couple of years. Schaefer attended one of Chavez's games at Monterrey High School last week.
Chavez is easily Texas's top priority recruit in the 2025 class late in the cycle. She has visited Texas multiple times since the Longhorns offered a couple of years ago. Most recently, Chavez visited Texas this past fall.
The Longhorns have built momentum on the court this season. Texas is currently ranked as the No. 1 team in the AP Poll for the first time in over two decades (since 2004). Schaefer has the Longhorns in contention for a National Championship in the final stretch run for this regular season and entering the postseason in March.
