No. 1 Texas softball will next play in Austin in the Longhorn Invitational in a couple of weekends
A post on the official Texas softball X account on Feb. 18 confirmed that Wednesday night's contest vs. Akron has been canceled due to weather.
Texas baseball also had a matchup canceled on Feb. 18 due to inclement weather for a game in Austin at UFCU Disch-Falk Field against the Houston Cougars.
The Longhorns dominated the Bevo Classic over the weekend at McCombs Field, going 5-0, including two ranked wins over the No. 11 Texas Tech Red Raiders. Led by two games with a combined one earned run from ace pitcher Teagan Kavan, Texas went 2-0 against Texas Tech, finished off by an 11-0 run-rule slashing in five innings on Sunday afternoon.
The next time Texas will be back at home at McCombs Field in Austin will be for the Longhorn Invitational on the weekend of Feb. 28-March 2. Texas begins the Longhorn Invitational on Feb. 28 with back-to-back Friday evening contests against the South Florida Bulls (4 p.m. CT) and Abilene Christian Wildcats (6:30 p.m. CT).
This upcoming weekend, the Longhorns travel to Tucson, AZ, for the Hillenbrand Invitational. Texas opens up the invitational this weekend in Arizona against the No. 18 Stanford Cardinal on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT.
After the Hillenbrand Invitational, the Longhorns have six straight games at home between the Longhorn Invitational in a couple of weeks and a March 5 former Big 12 matchup against the Baylor Lady Bears.
