After a loss to the UTSA Roadrunners, the Texas baseball team needed a redeeming series when they hosted the No. 2 LSU Tigers. The No. 10 Longhorns didn't start off hot with an 8-2 loss in the first game of the series but Texas pulled itself up by its bootstraps and clinched an incredible series win.
After the 8-2 loss, Texas fans were feeling uneasy as their team fell into its first two-game losing streak of the season, earning a 17-1 record before the Horns' loss to the Roadrunners.
However, that unease was calmed with a dominant offensive performance by the Longhorns in the seventh and eighth innings of the second game against LSU.
Texas baseball vs. LSU - Game 2
Despite giving up nine hits, which turned into seven runs for the Tigers, Texas was able to secure a win in the second game against LSU to even the series at one game a piece.
Adrian Rodriguez's double coupled with home runs by Jalin Flores and Rylan Galvan was all that the Longhorns needed to edge out the Tigers for the 11-7 victory. Just like that, Texas and LSU each had a win and they were heading to the final game of the series.
Texas baseball vs. LSU - Game 3
Unlike the two prior games, Texas started its scoring campaign almost immediately. With one run in the first inning followed by two runs in the second, the Horns were up 3-0 before the Tigers knew what hit them.
When right fielder Max Belyeu hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth, Texas flew to a 5-0 lead and didn't look back. By the end of the game, the Longhorns had secured a resounding 6-2 victory and the series win.
With the 2-1 finish over LSU, the Horns improved to 19-3 on the season and 5-1 in conference play – winning both SEC series so far this year. Next, Texas will host the Sam Houston Bearkats on March 25 before visiting the Missouri Tigers for a three-game series.
