Four-star prospect Nyk Lewis has officially received his release from the Xavier Musketeers after committing to the program while Sean Miller was still the team's head coach. Now, Miller has the opportunity to recruit him once again.
Miller, who recently took over as the Texas Longhorns' newest head coach, originally recruited Lewis to Xavier, and the point guard signed with the Musketeers in November of last year.
However, with Miller's departure from the program, Lewis requested that he be released from his commitment, and on Friday, March 28, that request was granted.
Now that Miller is building the Texas men's basketball program into his own, he could recruit Lewis to join the Longhorns in Austin as the young guard has reopened his recruitment process.

According to 247Sports, Lewis is the No. 3 athlete out of Washington, D.C., and the No. 7 point guard in the class of 2025. Currently, the PG holds 20 Division I offers, including programs such as the Tennessee Volunteers and Michigan Wolverines.
During his junior season, Lewis averaged 13.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. After his senior season, he was named the 2024-25 District of Columbia MaxPreps High School Basketball Player of the Year, averaging 12.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
In this day and age of college athletics, it's almost certain that players will enter the transfer portal when a coach leaves a program. In fact, athletes are granted a 30-day window to enter the portal when something like that takes place.
Ahead of Lewis receiving his release, Xavier junior guard Ryan Conwell announced that he had entered the transfer portal after just one year with the Musketeers.
