Steve Sarkisian has set up Arch Manning for a banner year in 2026 with additional pass protection, elite receivers, and extremely talented help in the backfield.
Despite being a top-three candidate on most sites' way-too-early Heisman Trophy odds and being a frontrunner for leading the Longhorns back to the College Football Playoff (after missing out in 2025), Manning was placed well below his deserved spot in a recent ranking of all players.
On3 released its ranking of the top 100 college football players across the nation, and shockingly, Manning wasn't in the top 10.
Arch Manning listed below Cam Coleman in recent ranking
Listed ahead of Manning were his own teammates: edge rusher Colin Simmons and wide receiver Cam Coleman, who transferred to Texas in the offseason.
Coleman hasn't proven himself as part of the Longhorns' receiving corps, but earned 708 receiving yards on a lackluster Auburn offense in 2025. Still, putting Manning's own wideout ahead of him is a slap in the face.

Now, don't get too far out over your skis. Manning is listed at No. 15 and is well ahead of Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr, who is supposedly the Heisman frontrunner but is listed at No. 86 on the player ranking.
In 2025, Manning earned 3,163 passing yards, 399 rushing yards, and 36 total touchdowns. This was without a sound offensive line, a lackluster running back room, and continuously dropped passes from even his favorite downfield targets.
Simmons is truly the only player on the Texas roster who has any semblance of an argument to be ranked ahead of his quarterback, as one of the best defensive players in the country over the last two seasons.
However, leaving Manning outside of the top 10, if not the top five, is completely disrespectful to the cinematic masterpiece he is about to show everyone in 2026.
